Mina Al Salam 5*, Dubai (UAE)

A hotel that feels like a celebration before it even begins

Some hotels just feel like home the moment you walk in — and Mina Al Salam is one of them. I chose to spend my birthday here last year, and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. There's something about the Madinat Jumeirah complex that wraps around you like a warm hug — the winding waterways, the Arabian architecture, the sound of water everywhere you turn. It's theatrical in the best possible way.

A room designed to make you feel something

My room was spacious, beautifully decorated with rich warm tones, and the attention to detail was evident in every corner — from the plush bedding to the thoughtful layout that made the space feel both luxurious and comfortable. But what really took my breath away was stepping out onto the balcony at sunset. The view over the Arabian Gulf was absolutely stunning — shades of orange and pink melting into the water, with the Burj Al Arab glowing in the distance. I genuinely just stood there for a while, soaking it in. And then — to my complete surprise — the hotel knocked on my door with a beautifully decorated birthday cake. That kind of gesture is what separates a good hotel from a truly great one. It felt personal, not just like a checkbox on a guest request list.

A beach worth every minute

The beach at Mina Al Salam is long, well-maintained, and never feels overwhelmingly crowded. The water is calm and perfect for a swim, and the sun loungers are spaced generously. I spent a good chunk of my birthday afternoon right there, which honestly felt like the perfect way to celebrate.

Pierchic — dining above the water

For dinner, I headed to Pierchic — a restaurant literally perched at the end of a pier stretching into the sea. The setting alone is worth the visit, but the food backs it up entirely. The seafood was fresh and elevated, the service attentive without being intrusive, and dining above the water with the lights of Madinat Jumeirah in the background was nothing short of magical. It's one of those restaurants that stays with you.

A gym that will genuinely impress you

For my fellow fitness lovers — the gym at Mina Al Salam deserves its own paragraph because I was genuinely blown away. The facility is massive, with both indoor and outdoor training areas that flow into each other seamlessly. Inside, you have all the equipment you'd expect from a world-class gym — top-of-the-range cardio machines, a full free weights section, cable stations — but it's the outdoor space that sets it apart. Training with fresh air, natural light, and views of the resort around you is a completely different experience. I genuinely didn't want to leave. Whether you're into heavy lifting, functional training, or just want to keep your routine going while on holiday, this gym covers every base.

Mina Al Salam is a place I'd return to without hesitation. For a birthday, an anniversary, or simply a treat-yourself moment — it delivers on every level.
